Rachel Modlin

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Rachel Modlin (she/her) is a collaborative pianist from Portland, Oregon, currently studying piano with Jean-David Coen and Monica Ohuchi. Rachel attends Reed College studying Music and French, and has studied at the Université Paris 8 in Paris, France, receiving high academic honors at both institutions. At Reed, Rachel won the Kaufman Music Achievement Fellowship and the Rothchild Summer Stipend to work with Kenji Bunch and Monica Ohuchi. Rachel was a member of the Piano Trio at Reed for two years, gave solo recitals, and soloed with the Reed College Orchestra. Rachel frequently performed on Reed College’s Friday @ 4 concert series as a soloist and collaborative pianist, and worked as the pianist for the Reed choruses.

Rachel frequently collaborates with various Portland ensembles and companies including the Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Portland Center Stage, Portland Playhouse, Bach Cantata Choir, as well as accompany studio recitals for string teachers in Portland. Rachel has attended the Portland Summer Ensembles, Music Fest Perugia in Italy, and the John Perry Academy of Music, working with renowned pianists such as John Perry, Mina Perry, Daniel Shapiro, Sasha Starcevich, and Irina Nuzova. Rachel dabbles in composition and will have music premiered by Fear No Music this upcoming 2023-24 concert season.

Rachel works as the Administrative Assistant for the Music Department Reed College and Reed College Orchestra Manager. To balance out her music, Rachel teaches ballet to dancers aged 2-18 at Classical Ballet Academy in Sellwood, Oregon.
