HEADWINDS

Celebrating composers whose music, innovative ideas, or very own existence has overcome systemic resistance just to be heard

2022 - 23 season

This season, the concert series at the Old Church Concert Hall will receive additional performances at a new, informal Sunday morning series at Reed College’s Eliot Chapel called De-Mystifying New Music. In this unique lecture/performance experience, the musicians will deconstruct and de-mystify one or two works over the course of an hour, giving audiences the opportunity to experience a single work multiple times in one sitting. This hour-long lecture performance series will be complete with pastries and coffee; and an opportunity to interact with the Fearless musicians (and composers) in an informal and intimate setting.

Generations:

A Music Family Tree Celebrating 25 Years of Young Composer’s Project

2022 - 23 season

This season Fear No Music explores the continuum of creativity that links composers from one generation to the next. To demonstrate this lineage, each program will feature a new work, paired with the music of an earlier composer who influenced it.

As Fear No Music reaches the 25 year milestone of our groundbreaking youth composer mentorship program Young Composer Project, the group reconnects with alumni of the program who have gone on to successful careers in music, including world premiere commissions by Chris Thomas and Jessica Hunt.
