Out of Many: Diverse Voices in Oregon
Fear No Music presents the last installment of Locally Sourced Sounds: our season-long celebration of composers living and working in our region. Inspired by the motto of inclusion and acceptance our country was founded upon (E pluribus unum), we call this final program Out of Many.
Celebrating not only the diverse experiences of our composers, but the many different musical styles and genres their vocabularies represent, we feature works by Fear No Music’s own multitalented composer/cellist/vocalist Nancy Ives and composer/producer/sound designer Nicholas Emerson. Then, in partnership with Oregon Rises Above Hate to observe the 50th year anniversary of the fall of Saigon, we welcome very special guest, singer/songwriter/poet Dao Strom for an unprecedented collaboration with our musicians, presenting her moving song cycle Diaspora Songs describing her personal account of the Vietnamese immigrant experience.
This program is presented with generous support from Anne Naito-Campbell and in partnership with Oregon Rises Above Hate.

Shaping the future of classical music
Fear No Music (FNM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit redefining what classical music can be. Through bold performances of contemporary classical works and transformative mentorship for young composers, we’re building a more inclusive and innovative future for the art form.
We spotlight the voices of composers from historically marginalized communities, as well as those living and working in the Pacific Northwest. And through our Young Composers Project, we help the next generation find their voice—and share it with the world.
Our Program Pillars:
• Concert Series – Presenting powerful new works by living composers
• Young Composers Project – Guiding youth as they explore, create, and perform original compositions

“Excellent performances by all the musicians. Thank you for this courageous, socially engaged program... The women's forum was a valuable component of the overall experience and allowed me to process what I had experienced while listening to the music."
