Anwyn Willette
(April MainStage Composer)

Anwyn Willette is a dedicated music composer and the Program Coordinator for the Sonic Arts and Music Production program at Portland State University. As a lead developer of the program, Anwyn has crafted an innovative curriculum that encourages students to explore the boundaries of sound and music.

With extensive experience in theater, Anwyn has composed and designed sound for notable productions, including *No Exit, Dead Man's Cell Phone, and Footfalls. Additionally, she served as a musicologist for the Aurora Colony Museum, reconstructing and reviving historical scores, including original works by early colony members. Her passion for music extends to editing unpublished Band Scores and piano compositions by Aurora Colony musicians, resulting in the release of three full-length CDs of this historic music. Recent projects include creating immersive sound installations that invite audiences to engage deeply with sonic experiences, such as “45 Degrees North,” where students documented their listening journeys across Portland.

In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Anwyn led the creation of *BLUR: Portraits of Pandemia*, a sound art installation reflecting the collective experiences of students during this tumultuous time. Through this project, students shared personal compositions inspired by themes of self-exploration, mental health, and resilience. Anwyn’s work embodies a commitment to fostering creativity and community through music, while also addressing pressing social issues. Outside of music, Anwyn finds joy in playing Bluegrass music and in the color green, symbolizing growth and renewal.
