2001

  • Complete performance of Erik Satie’s Vexations: an overnight performance
  • Performance at Merkin Hall, New York, September 2001.
  • World premiere of “Approaching Storm” by Laura Schwendinger.
  • World premiere of “Peace, Be Still” by Portland composer Tiffany Barclay.
  • World premiere of “Bob,” a collaboration between filmmaker Matt Smith and Joseph Waters, with the support of a RACC grant.

2000

  • World premiere of “Two Etudes for Piano” by Portland-born composer Ryan Francis.
  • World premier performance of the revised version of “Electric Fences” by California composer Shaun Naidoo.
  • World premiere of “Prelude — The Garden of Kali” and “Kali Yuga,” a collaboration between Portland composer Joseph Waters and Portland video artist Joanna Priestley, with the support of a RACC grant.

1999

  • World premiere of “Road Trip” by Portland-born composer Kenji Bunch.
  • World premiere of “Four Visions for Three Pianos” by Oregon composer Thomas Svoboda.
  • Exploding Instruments, a concert for instruments and electronics, in conjunction with the Portland International Electro-Acoustic Music Festival.

1998

  • World premiere of “Idaho Toccata” by Portland composer Cynthia Stillman Gerdes.
  • Performance of Lou Harrison’s “Violin Concerto” with the composer in attendance.
  • World premiere of “Arietta, Recitative, and Jam” by Portland composer Aaron Immanuel Wright, supported in part by a RACC grant.
  • Gasping for Air, a concert featuring music from the Soviet era of repression and censorship as part of the ACLU’s “Uncensored Celebration.”
  • Cascade Piano is season sponsor (1998–99 season).

1997

  • World premiere of Seann Alderking’s arrangement of the “Rite of Spring” for four pianos & percussion.
  • World premiere of “Cobra Smoke Dance” and “When the Black Dog Barks” by Portland composer Michael Stirling.
  • Young Composers Project Workshop launched.
  • Cascade Piano becomes sponsor.

1996

  • Ensemble in Residence at University of Oregon.
  • World premiere of “A Far Tower” by Washington composer Gregory Youtz.
  • World premiere of “Confessions” by Washington composer Ciro Scotto.
  • West Coast premiere of the complete “The Telephone Book” by Michael Torke.
  • Wieden & Kennedy advertising agency becomes sponsor.

1995

  • Guest Artists at Oregon Music Teacher’s Association Convention.
  • fEARnoMUSIC Composers Consortium is formed with four composers from the Northwest.
  • World premiere of “Sounds Like Motion” by Oregon composer David York.
  • Invited to perform at Tacoma First Night Festival.
  • Support grant from JackStraw Productions in Seattle.
  • First support grant from Regional Arts & Culture Commission in Portland.

1994

  • fEARnoMUSIC joins roster of Timothy Gilligan Artist Management.
  • First performances on KBPS Radio in Portland.
  • World premiere of “Soli for 4 Instruments” by Washington composer William O. Smith.
  • Ensemble in Residence at University of Oregon; premiere of “Pacific Rim Serenades” by Oregon composer Robert Kyr.
  • Invited to perform at Tacoma First Night Festival.

1993

  • American Premiere of PSU composer Salvador Broton’s “Mixed Sextet.” The performance is selected by Regional Arts & Culture Commission to appear on CD The Bridge, vol. 1.
  • First performances on KING radio in Seattle.

1992

  • fEARnoMUSIC is founded by PSU faculty members Dr. Joel Bluestone and Jeffrey Payne. First concerts in Oregon and Washington.
